 CONGRATULATIONS BOB!!

The meeting was called to order by President Art Muoio at 7:00pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed.

Greg stated we had 4 applications for membership all in the city of Rochester.

The majority of the meeting was used to discuss the tentative National Agreement that is going to be mailed to every member of the Branch by the end of the second week in August. You should receive a copy of the Proposal as well as a ballot by August 10, 2007.

Details of the proposal can be found in your August Postal Record but a more detailed description will be the actual agreement that is mailed out to the membership with your ballot.

The Officers of Branch 210 recommend a vote of YES to ratify this agreement.

Remember if you don't vote your voice is not heard!!!

The following is a brief layout of the major parts of the agreement if you have any questions about specific portions of the agreement ask your steward and if they can't answer they will call the office for clarification.

Temporary Workforce

The tentative contract calls for the elimination of all casual employees
The Tentative agreement allows the hiring of Transitional workforce that are covered by the National Agreement and allows those workers to be Union members. Initially the contract allows the hiring of 8,000 transitional employees to cover Flat sorter implementation with no district having more than 8% TE's, after that period, Transitional employment is limited to 3.5% nationwide and no district can have more than 6% TE's but these new transitional employees are paid higher and can retain membership in the NALC.

Subcontracting

In Facilities that are all City delivery there will be NO CONTACTING OUT of existing or new deliveries, in facilities with a mix of City and Rural there will be a six month hold on Contracting while a task force is convened to work the issue out, this hold is on new deliveries only. In those offices with a rural and city mix existing city carrier work is protected.

Health Benefits

Currently the Postal Service pays 85% and the employee pays 15% of your Health Insurance. The new agreement increases your portion 2% in 2009, 1% in 2010, 1% in 2011 and 1% in 2012. By the end of the contract the Postal Services portion will be 80% and your portion will be 20%.

There have also been agreements reached on other issues as well. Dois, 3rd bundle, Cor, Flat Sorter implementation, and moo mail have all been negotiated. I do not have any information regarding what the agreement says on these issues I only know they have reached a settlement.

The branch welcomes Tom Cook as the new steward in Ridgemont 14626 and Guy Goodrell as new steward in Caledonia. Lets give these guys all the support they need.
