The meeting was called to
order by President Art Muoio at 7:00pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of
the previous meeting minutes was made and passed.
Greg stated we had 19 applications for membership
all in the city of Rochester.
Greg then went on to report on the status of the membership, currently we have
860 active members, 370 retired members and 97 Life members
Norm LeFrois gave the Health Benefits report, Open
season this year will be November 12 thru December 10 and it will also encompass
the new Dental and Vision benefits. If you need to make changes to your
policies, this will be your opportunity to make those changes. This is the only
time during the year you will be allowed to sign up for the Dental or Vision
insurance. Any changes you make need to be made through Postal Ease
1-877-477-3273 and you will need your ID # and your PIN.
The Branch would like to thank all that marched in
this years Labor Day Parade. We had about 60 people show up and we finished with
pizza and soda.
Tony Polidori spoke about Political Education,
There are 2 bills circulating the house and Senate that would eliminate the
Government Pension Offset and the Windfall elimination Provision. they are HR 82
in the house and S 206 in the Senate, please contact your representatives and
asked them to sponsor these bills.
The deadline for returning your vote on the
contract has now passed, they are counting the ballots right now and we should
know the results by Monday 9/10 or Tuesday 9/11. If ratified there is a 45 day
window in which the branch can negotiate a local contract, see your steward for
details on Local Negotiations.
Joni Montroy will be at the October Union meeting
to make a retirement presentation, if you want to hear what she has to say the
meeting is at the wishing well party house at 7:00pm 10/3/2007.
October 5 the Branch will hold the annual retirees
breakfast at the Wishing Well Party House @9:00am all members are welcome just
call the Union office to schedule a reservation. 427-2450.
Branch 1009 Lyons Ny has requested a merger with
Branch 210, a vote will be taken at the October meeting on the merger request.
October 8, 2007 Columbus day Golf at Victor Hills
CC the cost is $40 per person and it is a 4 man scramble format. send your
checks to the union hall in the name of Jack O'Connor. Hots, Hamburgs and
Sausage all Day and a Buffet dinner at the end.
Rochester zone 7 has a new Steward, Branch 210
welcomes Maurice Hagen as that new steward please give him the support he needs
to represent you.
The next Union meeting
will be a general membership meeting and is scheduled for Wednesday October 3, 2007 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Wishing Well which is located
on Chili Ave in Gates.
