On Friday October 5, 2007 the Branch will honor 13 our retirees with 50 year gold cards (2) 60 year pins and (2) 70 year plaques at the annual retirees breakfast at Wishing Well Party House on Chili Ave.

Greg Karalias gave the membership report Greg stated the benefits for remaining a member of the Union after you retire, the cost is only $2 per month. For that $2 the retiree receives help for their spouse in the event of a members passing away, still receives publications, has the right to vote in branch and National Union elections, has the right to hold elected office in the union, free $5000 accidental death insurance, receives help with OPM should any trouble arise, as well as a host of other representation should it be needed. You are also qualified for Union sponsored discount programs like free wills from Moyer, Russi and Randall Law Firm, and discount medical services listed on the back of the Letter Carrier Review. You must fill out the 1187 that is sent to you after you retire in order to remain a member, IT IS NOT AUTOMATIC.

Branch 210 will be again running the MDA raffle in the month of December. Ask your steward for tickets.

TE's are beginning to be hired here in Rochester as part of the new contract, these employees are eligible to be Union members and in most cases they have joined our Branch, if you know of any TE's that have not yet joined try to get them on board.

As per our contractual agreement we will be receiving a one time lump sum Cola payment of $686 which will be in your regular paycheck on October 19, 2007. Also we will be receiving back pay for the 1.4% pay increase back to November of last year, that back pay will be for all hours worked up to Pay period 20 when the pay increase went into affect and should include Overtime worked. The Back pay will be in your regular Paycheck on November 30, 2007.

The Lyons NY merger vote was one of approval by the members of Branch 210, we will forward that result to National for their approval and once received Lyons NY will become part of Branch 210.

Nominations for Branch 210 Officers will be at the November Union meeting on November 7, 2007 at 7:00pm at the Wishing Well Party House on Chili Ave. If there is opposition, there will be an election committee convened and the election will take place at the December Union meeting as per our Branch by-Laws.

Steward elections will be held in January 2008, if you are interested in running for Union Steward in your unit either notify your present steward or contact the Union Office by Monday January 7, 2008 and we will arrange an election for your unit.

The CFC campaign is about to begin, if you are not sure who to donate your contribution to, the union recommends the Postal Employees Relief Fund. the code number is 10268. This fund helps Postal Workers in times of tragedy.

There have been some instances of scanners not downloading properly, if you have any collection boxes on your route or if your supervisor is claiming you are missing msp's then find a supervisor at the end of every day and give them your scanner so they see your scans in the scanner. 

The next Union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday  November 7, 2007 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Wishing Well which is located on Chili Ave in Gates.

And finally I would like to invite more members to Union meetings to learn what is happening with your Union.
