Greg Karalias gave the membership report in which he read 10 new members had joined the branch this month.

Norm LeFrois gave a Health Benefits report: Norm reported regarding the MBA's Disability Income Protection policy. It is very important that when filling out the claim forms you do so completely and not use white out. Your Doctor should fill out their portion completely and accurately as well, the last person to fill out the form should be your supervisor. When the form is complete send it in immediately, do not wait thinking you can get more weeks coverage out of the form by sending it in later. Your coverage is only good for the covered period on the form so send it in right away. To those employees that do not have coverage under the MBA policy it is no longer available for purchase, however L&M Financial in Buffalo offers a Disability Paycheck Protection Plan and you can contact then at (716) 839-1234 or (800) 326-8410.

For more information on any other of the MBA policies contact Norm directly at 338-2076, or call the union office @427-2450.

The accumulation toward the next Cost of Living Allowance is $458 and is payable in March 2008, you will see the increase in pay in your April 4, 2008 paycheck.

The AFL-CIO presented Certificates of appreciation to Joe DiMaria, Gianna Triolo Jill Palum, Walt Simoni and Kevin Montgomery for their help in organizing the Labor Day Parade last year.

Greg Karalias reported on the status of the membership as of January 2008. We have 102 Life members (50 years or more) 364 retired members and 940 active letter Carriers in Branch 210.

Our Secretary Tony Polidori reported on Political Education. Tony talked a little about the COLCPE raffle (see your steward for info) he also talked about some important legislation regarding absentee ballots in the state of NY. Currently there are a couple of bills circulating the House and Senate regarding the Government Pension Offset and Windfall elimination. HR 82 in the House and S 206 in the Senate.

The Branch will again be running the MDA Raffle for the Month of June 2008. See your steward in April and May for tickets.

There have been some problems with marriage mail, Current Postal Rules don  not allow for the delivery of marriage mail separately. If the marriage mail cards do not come then we should not be delivering the accompanied piece. If you are ordered to deliver it separately follow the order and file a grievance.

There will be a Retirement Party for Val Ambrose on March 30, 2008 at the American Legion in Webster from 1:00pm - 6:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 and are available by contacting Craig Merritt 482-0295, Jeannine Bills 766-8757, Maggie Marshall 690-2367 or call Beechwood Station 338-7819

The branches food drive will be the first full week in June. June 2nd thru June 7, 2008.

The Western NY district is reviewing Sick Leave usage. It is important to understand that the provision of the ELM still require Management to discuss your S/L usage with you prior to taking any action against you. If you are required to obtain medical documentation that documentation needs to say you were examined and were found not fit for work on the days in question. The note need not say what is wrong but just that the Dr. found you incapacitated for work. Once the note has been obtained by you DO NOT give it to your boss nor your Manager, they are NOT Doctors. Send ALL medical notes directly to the medical unit, USPS 1335 Jefferson Rd Rochester New York 14692.

As reported last month some of the City of Rochester Zones are going through adjustment counts this spring, we would like to caution the rest of the carriers to protect their street time as the Postal Service will be coming to other station in the fall and next spring. The time to protect your route is now, do not wait till they come to your zone and ask what you can do to protect yourself as it will then be too late. If you are still throwing your 3rd bundles or DPS stop now and do it on Street time like you should be doing to protect your street time. What you do today will reflect in your adjustment next year so be smart and protect yourself.

The next Union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday  April 2, 2008 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Wishing Well which is located on Chili Ave in Gates.

And finally I would like to invite more members to Union meetings to learn what is happening with your Union.
