The meeting was called to order by President Art Muoio at 7:00pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed.

Greg Karalias gave the membership report; there were 0 applications this month for membership in the NALC. Greg Spoke on the importance of maintaining membership once you retire and the fact that you MUST fill out the form that is sent to you in order to remain a member of the union. The cost of membership as a retiree is $2 per month.

Norm LeFrois spoke on the new health care bill and the need to change the law H.R 5200 in regards to the provision to provide benefits to children up to age 26. This is why the new law won't take affect until January 2011.

Kevin Montgomery spoke on Political action and informed the membership 5-day delivery is still at the forefront of the Postal desire list and he also told the membership that Postmaster Potter has stated that if he gets 5-day delivery it will be an easy transition to 4 day delivery and go to an all part-time workforce. This is why we are asking your support in this. Unless you want to be part of a part-time workforce with no health benefits and no retirement we need to save 6-day delivery now and in the future.

Walter Simoni spoke regarding the AFL-CIO and the situation concerning Mayoral Control of the school district as well as the strike at the Motts plant in Williamsville. The Motts employees are being asked to lower their pay and remove all retirement benefits, the employees are merely asking to maintain the same level of p0ay and benefits (no raise).

The release of the latest consumer price index shows no increase in the cost of living, therefore there is no accumulation towards the next Cost of Living (COLA).

The Branch is holding the raffle again in this month. See the web-site next month for a list of winners.

The Branch 210 annual picnic will be held at Darien Lake July 11, 2010. Prices will be as follows; Members and their immediate family (Spouse, Minor Children) $18 each, all other guests $28 each. If you hold annual passes to Darien Lake and would like to purchase food only tickets they are available for $6.00 each. As always parking is included in tickets sales.

If you are applying for FMLA protection with regards to sick leave and it has been more than 5 days since you have sent in your paperwork and the Postal Service has not responded please contact the Union office for assistance as we need to get the Postal Service to follow the law.

The By-Law change which was mailed to each member via the Letter Carrier review would eliminate the Position at the beginning of the next year January 2011. There was a discussion regarding this By-Law change and it will be voted at the July 7, 2010 union meeting. As this is a by-Law change the July meeting is now a general membership meeting and all are welcome to attend.

Important Repeat from last month:           Due to Shared Service delay in scanning disciplinary actions into your Personnel Folders we have found instances where the disciplinary letters are put into your files after Kenny Montgomery has notified you that it has been removed. It is very important that you go to Liteblue.usps.gov using your employee ID number and PIN look in your OPF (must be done with internet explorer). If you find anything in your Personnel folder that does not belong contact the Union office for further assistance.

The food drive is June 7 - June 12, 2010. Please call the union office with the totals on Monday June 14, 2010.

Rick Salamone's daughter has come down with cancer. the members in Downtown have asked that if any members would like to send any help Rick's way it would be greatly appreciated. Please send any checks payable to Rick Salamone or anything else you would like to send to Downtown Station or you can send it to the Union hall and we will make sure Rick receives it.

The next Union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday July 7, 2010 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Valencia's Restaurant which is located on Long Pond Road in Gates.

And finally I would like to invite more members to Union meetings to learn what is happening with your Union.
