 CONGRATULATIONS FRED! 

The meeting was called to order by President Art Muoio at 7:00pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed.  

Kenny Montgomery gave the membership report for the excused Greg Karalias; there was 1 application this month for membership in the NALC James Vought a TE from East Rochester. Kenny then Spoke of the importance of maintaining membership once you retire and the fact that you MUST fill out the form that is sent to you in order to remain a member of the union. The cost of membership as a retiree is $2 per month.

Norm LeFrois spoke on the new provisions to provide benefits to children up to age 26. For those members that are the guardians of their grandchildren it is important to contact OPM regarding the guardianship in order to maintain their health benefits under your policy. OPM can be contacted by calling 1-888-767-6738.

The Postal Regulatory Commission has chosen an independent actuary in order to figure out if as the OIG has stated the Postal Service has overpaid the CSRS fund by $75 Billion dollars. the Postal Service has stated if this money is found to be owed to it then there would be no need to go to 5-day delivery. The actuary has filed its report and it was found that the Postal Service is owed $50 - $55 Billion dollars. this would more than pay the future health benefits that is causing the Postal Service to lose money.

The release of the latest consumer price index shows no increase in the cost of living, therefore there is no accumulation towards the next Cost of Living (COLA).

The Branch held the MDA raffle in the month of June Click here for a list of winners. The raffle will be held again in December. As a result of this raffle Branch 210 donated just over $5300.00 to MDA last year.

The Branch will again hold the Bowl-a-thon for MDA. The bowl-a-thon will be held November 7, 2010. More information will follow.

The proposed By-Law change which was mailed to each member via the Letter Carrier review was unanimously approved. this change eliminates the Position of Director of City Delivery at the beginning of the next year January 2011.

The food drive was June 7 - June 12, 2010 and the Branch through your efforts collected 489,000 lbs of food for area pantries. Thanks go out to all that participated in this years event.

The Postal Service has asked the Branch to remind carriers of the importance of making your own clock rings. The Branch officers want to state that if you are involved in an overtime grievance we cannot get you paid if we win if there are no clock rings showing what you did and where you did it. those clock rings when you do an undertime or overtime pivot are important.

The next Union meeting an executive board meeting and is for Stewards and officers only. It is scheduled for Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Valencia's Restaurant which is located on Long Pond Road in Gates.
