Greg Karalias gave the membership report in which he read 14 new members had joined the branch this month.

Norm LeFrois gave a Health Benefits report: Norm told the members that the new TE's will not qualify for health benefits until they complete 360 days they are in fact eligible for all of the policies offered by the MBA. these include a multitude of Life Insurance Policies, a Maturity Income Policy (set up like an IRA) and a Hospital Plus plan (pays cash to you for days spent in a Hospital). For information on these policies whether your a TE or a Career employee contact Norm at 338-2076.

Steward election will take place this month for Irondequoit station. All other units there was no opposition. There are however a few steward changes, First the Branch would like to thank the following stewards who are stepping down. Frank Deil 14604 Midtown, Tom Munger 14620 GMF, John Lottes 14623 GMF, John Wilson 14624 Westgate and Jim Johnston 14624 Westgate. These stewards all did a great job for the Branch and represented their members well.

Replacing these outgoing stewards will be Joe Wegman 14604 Midtown, Cliff Finn 14623 GMF, Laura Schmitt 14624 Westgate and Tim Wallace 14624 Westgate. We welcome them and need to give them the support they need to represent the members in their units.

The accumulation toward the next Cost of Living Allowance stands at $333 and is payable in March 2008.

Rochester has informed us that they will looking at doing route inspections in 2008, we have not received a schedule as of yet. More info to follow when we get a schedule.

The penalty exclusion period for this year has ended. Penalty time or V-Time is now back in force.

TE's are beginning to be hired here in Rochester as part of the new contract, these employees are eligible to be Union members and in most cases they have joined our Branch, if you know of any TE's that have not yet joined try to get them on board.

We still have openings for the defensive driving course through AAA. There will be 2 classes held and each class consists of 2 evenings. The first class is Monday and Wednesday January 21 & 23, 2008 and the second class is  Monday and Wednesday January 28 & 30, 2008 both classes are 6:30pm - 9:30pm and are at the AAA office in Penfield, 2156 Penfield Road near the corner of Rt. 250 and Rt. 441.

There was an error on the route bids sheet. There were two different closing dates listed on the bid sheet and Kenny has notified Shared Services of this error. We hope that it does not happen again, however contractually the bids are always open for a period of 10 days NO MORE. if you see a bid sheet that is open for more than 10 days please ask for clarification form the Union office prior to the closing date.

The branch is considering changing the food drive from a week to a day, if you have a preference please let your steward know which you would prefer. The day would be the same week we do it now however we would only do it for a day.

Beginning in pay period 1 2008 the National dues structure is set to increase dues by .64 cents.

The next Union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday  February 6, 2008 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Wishing Well which is located on Chili Ave in Gates.

And finally I would like to invite more members to Union meetings to learn what is happening with your Union.
