Greg Karalias gave the membership report in which he read 39 new members had joined the branch this month.

Norm LeFrois gave a Health Benefits report: Norm told the membership about some of the many insurance policies available through the MBA. He focused the discussion on Target 65. Target 65 offers all the advantages of traditional whole life insurance, but rather than paying premiums to age 100, payments end at 65. It features:
• Guaranteed lifetime coverage
• Level premiums until age 65
• Increasing cash value
• Access to policy loans

For more information on this or any other of the MBA policies contact Norm directly at 338-2076, or call the union office @427-2450.

Steward election were held in Irondequoit Zone 21 and Panorama 14625. The Branch welcomes Brian Starnes as the new steward in Zone 14621. We also thank Bob Rush for all the work he did in zone 21 over the years as Steward. In zone 14625 the members re-elected Walter Simoni as their Steward. The Branch is confident Walt will continue to provide those members with the high level of representation that he has in the past. Paul TeBeau has stepped up to be the Steward in 14620, Paul is an ex-steward from Greece. He will do a great job at the GMF 14620.

At the Meeting we had the installation of the new term of Officers. Bill Cooke our Business Agent was in attendance to officiate the installation. Bill started out by thanking the outgoing officers for the outstanding work they performed for the NALC. He then told of the importance of having your voice heard in the upcoming elections. It is imperative that we elect people into govt. position that will support our positions concerning your employment. It doesn't matter if it is a Democrat or a Republican, what matters is do they support YOU if so then we will support them. That is the bottom line.

Gay Broman stepped down as an AFL-CIO delegate, Thank you Gary, you always represented the Branch with distinction. President Muoio appointed Steward Jill Palum from city zone 14609 to this position.

The Western NY district is reviewing Sick Leave usage. It is important to understand that the provision of the ELM still require Management to discuss your S/L usage with you prior to taking any action against you. If you are required to obtain medical documentation that documentation needs to say you were examined and were found not fit for work on the days in question. The note need not say what is wrong but just that the Dr. found you incapacitated for work. Once the note has been obtained by you DO NOT give it to your boss nor your Manager, they are NOT Doctors. Send ALL medical notes directly to the medical unit, USPS 1335 Jefferson Rd Rochester New York 14692.

The Union Steward from 14626 Ridgemont is Tom Cook, Tom has asked for names of Service members serving overseas as Ridgemont sends out care packages to our service men and women. Please contact Tom at Ridgemont Station with any names of relatives serving our country.

The next Union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday  March 5, 2008 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Wishing Well which is located on Chili Ave in Gates.

And finally I would like to invite more members to Union meetings to learn what is happening with your Union.
