The meeting was called to
order by President Art Muoio at 7:00pm. A motion to dispense with the reading of
the previous meeting minutes was made and passed.
Greg Karalias gave the membership
report in which he read 31 new members had joined the branch this month.
Norm LeFrois gave a Health Benefits report: Norm told the members that open
season ended December 10, 2007. Flexible spending's open season closes December
29, 2007. Flexible spending allows you to put money into an account for medical
use pre tax.
Steward elections will be held in January 2008, if
you are interested in running for Union Steward in your unit either notify your
present steward or contact the Union Office by Monday December 31, 2007 and we
will arrange an election for your unit.
The accumulation toward the next Cost of Living
Allowance stands at $104 and is payable in March 2008.
Western NY district is conducting Zero Bundle
Drills?? If you are questioned about your collection boxes you should cooperate
and answer the questions but do not sign anything with regards to this type of
questioning. If in doubt ask for a Steward or call the Union Office.
Branch 210's position is delivering mail in the
dark is not safe. If you feel unsafe delivering mail in the dark then inform
your supervisor as soon as you realize you will be that late and get
instructions. If they are not clear then bring the mail back. Don't put yourself
in danger by delivering in the dark.
Harrison Fox from Branch 3 in Buffalo made a
customer connect presentation. this program helps ensure our jobs will be here
for years to come. Even if Management looks like they are trying to put us out
of business we need to do all we can to make sure that does not happen.
Rochester has informed us that they will looking at
doing route inspections in 2008, we have not received a schedule as of yet. More
info to follow when we get a schedule.
The penalty exclusion period for this year is
December 1st through December 28th 2007. During this period every year there is
no Penalty Overtime (V-time) any overtime that would normally be penalty
(V-time) is paid at the regular overtime rate of time and a half.
TE's are beginning to be hired here in Rochester as
part of the new contract, these employees are eligible to be Union members and
in most cases they have joined our Branch, if you know of any TE's that have not
yet joined try to get them on board.
Branch 210 has arranged a defensive driving course
through AAA. There will be 2 classes held and each class consists of 2 evenings.
The first class is Monday and Wednesday January 21 & 23, 2008 and the second
class is Monday and Wednesday January 28 & 30, 2008 both classes are
6:30pm - 9:30pm and are at the AAA office in Penfield, 2156 Penfield Road near
the corner of Rt. 250 and Rt. 441.
President Muoio thanked three of our departing
officers for the work they did over the years. Those departing officers are Tim
Jackson-Trustee, Diane Allocco-Secretary and Roger Larker-Vice-President. These
three will most assuredly be missed by the branch.
Beginning in pay period 1 2008 the National dues
structure is set to increase dues by 64 cents.
The next Union meeting is scheduled for Wednesday
January 2, 2008 at 7:00pm and will be held at the Wishing Well which is located on
Chili Ave in Gates.
And finally I would like to invite
more members to Union meetings to learn what is happening with your Union.
