The meeting was called to order by President Kenny Montgomery at 7:00pm. A motion to
dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes was made and passed
without dissent.
Norm LeFrois discussed open
season November 14, 2011 - December 12, 2011 for changing health plans as well
as dental and vision coverage. dental and Vision health coverage can be obtained
by active and retirees by going to benefeds.com or call 877-888-3337 for
help in signing up. the employee or retiree is responsible for the entire
premium in those plans. for retirees trying to change plans call the OPM express
line at 800-332-9798.
President Montgomery discussed the Postal Services recent announcement regarding
delaying first class mail from 1-2 days to 2-3 or even 4 days. he stated he
believes this is the first step to the Postal Service trying to eliminate
Saturday delivery. we need every carrier to contact their congressperson and
tell them we will not stand for the destruction of the Postal Service. we need
every carrier to begin giving to COLCPE and make sure we are represented in
congress by those that support us.
The Postal Service has stated that most accidents happen in December, January
and February and the supervisors and Managers will be increasing their street
observations during this time so make sure you protect yourselves by using
seatbelts at all times, close your doors before you pull away from the curb, use
you turn signals pulling to and away from curbs, always use the satchel and dog
spray and wear the proper footwear. Remember Safety does not take a backseat to
getting done by 6:00pm. your safety comes first.
The MDA raffle is now underway winners will be posted next month and will be
notified by mail.
President Kenny Montgomery stated we are still looking for a new building to
house our union hall. We are interested in a building large enough to hold union
meetings and steward training in as well. Any ideas or tips contact the union
office at 427-2450.
The MDA bowl-a-thon raised $762. We need to do a better job of participating in
this event next year.
If you have not received the book that
Director of City Delivery Lew Drass sent out please notify the union office and
we will get you a copy. The book was sent to every member with
valuable information on route adjustments and filling our 3996 and 1571. Please
take the time to read the book as it is very useful and easy to understand. We
ask you to please read at a minimum pages 1-8 which completely explains the 3996
process.
the petition drive collected 888,958 signatures so far. National is trying to
get to 1 million so keep collecting and send them into the union office.
The Delivery Unit Optimizations (DUO'S) are now complete.
National has announced a dues increase of 39 cents per pay period which will be
reflected in your January 6th paycheck.
The annual penalty overtime exclusion period will run from December 3 - December
30. During this period there is no V-time.
Vacation bidding has begun for the 2012 leave year. When bidding please
fill out 2 3971 leave requests for each week you are bidding on. Management will
sign and date stamp the forms and return a copy to you. It is your
responsibility to ensure you have enough leave to cover the requested weeks.
the Rochester Lancers are having a union night on 12/27/2011. tickets are $7 for
the upper section and $13 for the lower section. Kids 12 and under are free in
the upper section. Deadline for tickets is 12/14/2011.
The National parties have extended contract talks again and they are continuing
to discuss the issues. the extension last until 12/16/2011.
As per the by-laws of branch 210 there will be steward elections in all offices
in the month of January 2012. If you would like to run for steward in your
office please contact the union hall by January 4 and we will conduct a mail
election.
The Doherty Scholarship deadline is December 31, 2011. If you have a graduating
senior and would like to have them considered for the union scholarship fill out
the application and ask a local officer to sign it and send it to national by
December 31, 2011. The applications can be found in the Postal Record.
There is a new FMLA mailing address. If you are applying for FMLA you should
send all information to HRSSC - FMLA Eastern, Po BOX 970905, Greensboro,
NC 27497-0905. do not give it to your supervisor he or she is not a doctor and
does not have the right to your medical information.
Finally on behalf of the officers and stewards of Branch 210 we wish you all a

The next Union meeting is a general membership meeting and is open to
all members of the branch. It
is scheduled for Wednesday January 4, 2012 at 7:00pm and will be held at the IBEW union hall located at 2300
East River Road, Rochester NY 14623.
